How to reach Zurich Airport

Public transport

If you do not live in the city of Kloten or the sur­round­ing com­mu­ni­ties, pub­lic trans­port is the cheap­est way to get to the air­port. But if you are trav­el­ling with a fam­i­ly and a lot of lug­gage, trav­el­ling by pub­lic trans­port is of course not par­tiu­lar­ly con­ve­nient. Bear in mind that you have may a long-haul flight of sev­er­al hours ahead of you afterwards.

For region­al pub­lic trans­port, the air­port has a bus sta­tion and a con­nec­tion to the Glatt­tal tramway. Nation­al­ly, the air­port is con­nect­ed to the SBB rail­way net­work with its own sta­tion. Dur­ing the day, a train leaves for Zurich main sta­tion approx­i­mate­ly every 15 — 20 min­utes. The ways to the pub­lic trans­port sys­tems at the air­port are very good.

Airport hotels

If your flight departs ear­ly in the morn­ing or arrives late in the evening, there may be no trains to the Zurich agglom­er­a­tion or oth­er parts of Switzer­land at these times. In this case, you have the option of stay­ing overnight at an air­port hotel. This way you arrive in the evening before and reach your flight in the morn­ing reli­ably and rest­ed. The oth­er way round, you stay overnight in the hotel after your arrival and trav­el home the next morn­ing. Most hotels at the air­port offer a shut­tle ser­vice to the air­port terminals.

Parking at the airport

Zurich Aiport has var­i­ous park­ing facil­i­ties. Gen­er­al­ly, the clos­er the car park is to the ter­mi­nals, the more expen­sive it is. You can get a cheap­er price by mak­ing an online reser­va­tion on the Zurich Air­port web­site. How­ev­er, if you have to change your jour­ney, there will be a charge for can­celling or rebook­ing. Depend­ing on the option you choose, the cost for the park­ing is between CHF 70.00 and CHF 110.00 for a week­end trip and between CHF 350.00 and CHF 490.00 for a two-week hol­i­day away from home.

Valet parking

An inter­est­ing alter­na­tive is the valet park­ing ser­vice offered by Sprenger Auto­bahn­hof AG. You dri­ve your car to the Auto­bahn­hof AG counter and hand over the vehi­cle keys. The employ­ees of Sprenger Auto­bahn­hof AG will then park your car in a near­by car park out­side the air­port grounds. When you return, your car will be ready at the Auto­bahn­hof AG counter at the agreed time. Flight delays and can­cel­la­tions are also tak­en into account. The park­ing cost is between CHF 60.00 and CHF 70.00 in case of a roman­tic week­end in Paris for two days, and around CHF 200.00 in case a two-week hol­i­day in the Maledives.

Addi­tion­al ser­vices can be booked at cost. For exam­ple: car wash, inte­ri­or clean­ing, tyre change, refu­el or services.

Considerations

When park­ing at the aiport, remem­ber that your vehi­cle will be parked out­side or in a pub­lic mul­ti-storey car park while you are away. So unfor­tu­nate­ly, sur­pris­es can­not be ruled out when you return. The risk is low­er with valet park­ing, as the park­ing spaces are usu­al­ly bet­ter mon­i­tored. Auto­bahn­hof Sprenger AG offers park­ing spaces in closed garage as an option. Fur­ther­more, you should bear in mind that you may still have to dri­ve your­self home after a long-haul flight last­ing sev­er­al hours and with jet lag.

Arrival Zurich Airport

When you return from your hol­i­day or busi­ness trip, we are wait­ing for you in the arrival hall of your flight. Using your flight num­ber, we can track your flight. So if your flight is sched­uled for 6:30 pm arrival at Zurich but you are still on the tar­mac at Lon­don Heathrow at 8:00 pm with no mobile phone recep­tion, do not wor­ry. We have your flight on our dis­play and can track where your plane is at the moment. As soon as the plane begins its approach over the Black For­est, we will make our way to the appro­pri­ate arrival hall and be ready for you on time.

There are two arrival halls at Zurich Air­port. Please note that we will be wait­ing in the arrival hall reg­is­tered for your flight. If you need to clear cus­toms goods, you will come to Arrival Hall 2 any­way. It is also pos­si­ble that you have mixed up the arrival halls for oth­er rea­sons. If you know about the change of arrival hall in advance, please let us know. Oth­er­wise, sim­ply call us or send us a WhatsApp. 

Business travellers

Are you expect­ing a busi­ness part­ner or an impor­tant cus­tomer at Zurich Air­port? Of course you can instruct your impor­tant cus­tomer and put him on pub­lic trans­port. How­ev­er, be aware that this entails some risks. There are count­less ways in which your cus­tomer gets into trou­ble and arrives at your place annoyed. A rental car is only advis­able if your busi­ness part­ner sug­gests it of his own accord.

If you are unable to pick up your busi­ness part­ner at the air­port your­self, we will be hap­py to do it for you.
